Leak-free Cloth Diapering Systems Since 1991!

Charcoal Bamboo, Fleece, Microfiber

Today we’re talking about charcoal fabrics used inside cloth diapers, inserts/ boosters/ doublers and why Mother ease does NOT offer them.

Charcoal Bamboo, Charcoal Polyester Fleece, and Charcoal Microfiber are becoming increasingly popular but could be causing more harm than good. Read more below and comment at the end to let us know what you think!?

What is it?

During the manufacturing process of these fabrics, nano-particles of charcoal are added to create the dark grey color – which is said to kill bacteria and be antibacterial [when used with bamboo] but this is just untrue as stated by the U.S. Federal Trade Commission.

Why ME doesn’t use it?

It’s a neat idea to use a darker color inside the diaper as it hides the stains that are oh-so- common to cloth. But have you ever noticed that the interior of Mother ease’s cloth diapers are all light in color, especially our colored diapers, which have a white inner.

That’s because it’s crucial to know the health of your baby, and their poop can say a LOT – if you let it!  Using a dark colored fabric can hide some very important information, telling you when not to worry and when it’s wise to be concerned!

Here are a couple of examples:
[I spared the images but you can always Google search if you need]

  • Mucus in the poop is a telltale sign of an infection or allergy
  • Bloody poop – red or black
    • Normal poop tinged with red blood, which is often a sign of a milk protein allergy
    • Constipated poop with a hint of red blood, likely a result of tears in the anus or tiny hemorrhoids
    • Diarrhea with red blood, indicate a bacterial infection

Noticing early signs will be very beneficial for you and your baby! And if you do see anything out of the ordinary, be sure to contact your pediatrician.

So be aware of the fabrics used and trust the experts at Mother ease to provide safe, convenient, cloth diapering systems for your baby!
